Excerpt:
He swerves off the dark road and into the trees, leaving the car running.  He turns to face me for the first time since we were in the car.  I lick my lips out of nervousness.  His eyes lock onto my lips, letting me know that was a mistake.  I shriek as he reaches across the seat, snatching me against his body and reclining his seat, all in one fluid motion.  I am so stunned by his actions, I don't even resist.  This is Torch, I keep telling myself, there has to be an explanation for his behavior.  His eyes look funny, I hardly recognize them.  My attempt at reasoning with myself stops when he begins devouring my mouth as he rubs himself against me while groaning loudly.  He yanks up my skirt, ripping off my panties.  I scream into his mouth, fighting him.  I bite his lip just hard enough to break the skin, hoping to snap him out of this mindless frenzy, but the dumbass likes it.  “Mmm, yeah, baby, I need—harder, bite me harder.”  His mouth trails down my neck.

“Stop this, Torch!  Dammit! You have to get hold of yourself or I’m going to stab your ass!”  I pull out a blade, resting it against the side of his neck.

Review:
After 1 year of not only adjusting to being QUEEN of an entire race of warriors but figuring out which one of twin brothers is her true mate, you'd think a girl could catch some R&R or at least a deep breathe. Nope, not in the cards for Annabelle Wilkins, newly trained and crowned she has to deal with all of this plus a new threat that seems to be far stronger than believed. More deception lies ahead in this installment coming from people involved in her past and some brand new hurdles to clear along the way, Anna has to deal with not only so many different stressful situations but she is being pulled from all sides by people she cares about but want her to make life altering decisions. She has to do right for her people but an old friend is making himself an enemy and pulling more than one race into the mix and there are two drool worthy men waiting for her to make a decision. Anna has quite a bit on her plate in Destiny of the Female Warrior.

Anna got even better for me in this installment. She had so much on her plate that she could have easily given up and nobody would have blamed her. She stayed strong and found ways to clear all these problems instead of failing to make decisions. I liked that the most about her as a character in this book, as well as the story in general. It didn't lag through problems. We made decisions, followed through with plans and moved the story along. Usually when we get to sequels the story can get very stuck in one place, such as her choice between mating Eli or Nyoka. I would have liked to know what went on between her and either brother for the year between stories but I thought the plot line that she has two mating bonds flowed quite nicely in Destiny of the Female Warrior and didn't get caught in a holding pattern. Eli did piss me off a number of times during the book but after letting the story play out, I did feel like I could accept that he isn't perfect and it is clear he loves Anna.

One aspect that I did mention in my review for the first book was that I would have loved to explore the interactions with the other races more and in this second book we got that. We not only met different characters from different races but we started to flush out what the dynamics are in the supernatural worlds including how the other races govern themselves and what those other races are and what distinguishing characteristics they each hold. I just thought it brought another layer of story to Anna's tale instead of a monotone plot line with online one race of characters. Adding these characters to the already intriguing line up we already have was quite genius. Plus, I couldn't help but love Elise more and more because she is everything you need in a wing man. This series just keeps getting better and better!-My Opinion-Buy it!
