Why I Love Time Travel Stories by Beth Barany

I love time travel in romances and other stories. Time travel creates unpredictable stories. Put a feisty modern heroine into a medieval time period and mix – how many choices does she have without her career, nice clothes, and smart phone?

I like time travel stories because they transport me as the writer and hopefully the reader into another time and place that we can’t reach, but which is exciting to explore. What would life be like without all the modern conveniences? What would our lives be like if we could go where we wanted, do as we wanted, live as we wanted? I like thinking about how that would change us and how we would stay the same. As a reader and a writers, what I discover is that what makes us human and what creates interesting stories can happen at any time and place, and that is reaffirming.

I adore time travel stories for the adventure. I want to experience the turning points in history, like when the great cathedrals were being built in France or when independence from tyranny was being fought for.
